MEGA EASY SODA BREAD

Steering away from cakes and puddings, here is a mega easy recipe for soda bread. No bread maker needed, no need to let it rise. Just mix the ingredients in one bowl, knead into a ball, put into the oven for 30 minutes and VOILA!
You can vary the recipe by adding pine nuts or sunflour seeds, use some oatmeal to replace some of the flour or use plain natural yoghurt instead of the buttermilk. Also, I used the amount of salt as stated in the recipe but it made the bread quite salty. It could easy do with half of the amount or even no salt at all as the bicarbonate of soda gives it enough taste.
BTW, I got the recipe from the BBC Good Food Website.

INGREDIENTS:
150g Plain Flour
150g Wholemeal Flour
1tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
1,5tsp salt*
250ml Buttermilk

1. Heat the oven to 200C/Fan 180C/Gas 6. Mix all dry ingredients, add buttermilk and stir to form a dough. Knead briefly then form into a ball. Put on a floured baking sheet then slash a cross in the top.
2. Bake for 30-40 minutes until it sounds hollow when you tap on the bottom.
